Getting back into my practice

Being back in California has been quite, well… interesting to say the least. Life has changed dramatically in the last few weeks. Thailand feels like a distant memory, but I've only been home for 9 days. To read up on my 4 week experience, please visit my Absolute Hot Yoga Teacher Training blog:

Trying to juggle 2 different, but very similar blogs feels a little funny

Today was my 300th Bikram class, not including the 46 Absolute Hot Yoga classes I did while I was gone. It feels odd to say, but I have been struggling with my Bikram practice since returning home. Yes, I did practice yoga twice daily (12 times a week) while I was gone, and I completely expected my practice to change and grow. But, the series wasn’t exactly the same, and the challenges were different. The way I ate was different, and I’m still trying to get back into my old habits again with routine, etc. My body feels stiff, especially my hamstrings. I pulled something in my right hip/gluteus/leg the second week in Thailand, and it’s still a bit of a nagging pain in certain postures. I have only gone to morning classes since coming home, so I’m sure if I were to go to an afternoon class my body would be a little more forgiving.

I go back to my full time job in about 4 weeks. Next week, I should be figuring out my yoga teaching schedule too. Come August, I am going to be very busy! But, I think that will be good. I’m feeling more independent than ever, even if that means I am often by myself, and sometimes lonely and wishing I had something to do.

I’m trying to practice the things I learned while I was away. Compassion, strength, courage… I want to continue my growth as a student, a teacher {yoga, and preschool}, as a friend, and as a human being. I have purchased several books [I can’t wait for them to come] on yoga, chakras, and meditation. I hope to continue to learn more and more on these subjects, which we just barely touched on during my training.

I just finished my third 3-day BluePrint juice Cleanse. It was yummy, and it gets easier every time. I chose to have some wine last night {the day after I finished my cleanse – so much for easing back into food/alchol, ha}. Of course, now there is a 20% off promotional discount they are holding on the site; I want to do it again! I can hear my mom now, “you don’t know how to be broke.” I guess it’s true.  I don’t have an income until August, but I’m spending like I do!

I hope everyone is well,
Namaste

Hi Mark!

I'm glad you found it again -- I tried to change my privacy settings. I have been a terrible blogger! I'm writing a new post right now :)

Going to check out your page today as well.
