Well hello there, 2014!

Another year has come and gone. I really was quite fond of 2013 (and not just because there was a number “3” in the year). So many great things happened in 2013:

  •  I got engaged! Our wedding is 9.27.14
  • No more roommates – fiancé and dog do not count
  • New job prospects
  • Continuing to grow confident in teaching Bikram yoga
  •  Lots of fun trips and concerts

That's just a short list, but you get the picture.

Of course there are also things that happened that weren’t so great, but why get into that.

So, it’s January 1st… I woke up, took down the (fake) Christmas tree, and put the decorations away. So far, I’m feeling pretty productive as far as 2014 goes.

I ended 2013 with 6 Bikram classes in a row in 6 days – I even did a double of the 60 minute version on Monday (I didn’t go Sunday). So, should it be any surprise that the next thing on my agenda today is… a very special New Year’s Day Birkam yoga class at noon. My guess is that our small studio is going to be packed – last year there were 35 of us in the hot room, which is close to the max.

I’m not comfortable spilling all my hopes, wishes, goal, and “resolutions” for 2014. Honestly, I don’t really have a list, I just have things that have been in my mind for awhile, and that I hope I can work on. One of which, is getting back into (realistically; getting closer to) my awesome Bikram yogini shape from two years ago. I may never get back to where I was before, but I sure can work my butt off to try and get closer.

2012 before teacher training

It’s hard not to look back and wish things were the way they used to be in terms of my practice and my body. Some days, just staring at myself in the mirror is a struggle because I end of tormenting myself for letting go of the things that kept me in tip-top shape. But haranguing myself for how I’ve changed will get me nowhere. Change is inevitable.

There’s a whole 365 days of this year, and so far I’m off to a good start.

Happy New Year

Namaste
